With the ShellBoost package, we provide a console utility called ShellBoost.Cli.exe. This utility can run the following commands:
Locks: List processes that lock a specific file. This is also available in the .NET ShellBoost utility class ShellBoost.Core.Utilities.RestartManager.
ResetShellThumbnails: Resets Windows' explorer.exe thumbnail cache.
RestartExplorer: Restarts the Windows' explorer.exe running process(es) without trying to abruptly kill it, if possible. Between the stopped and the restart events, this tool will wait for you to press a key. It allows you to run file operations (compile, copy, delete, etc.) without binaries being locked by explorer.exe. If explorer was successfully restarted with this method, the Windows that were opened before restart, should automatically be reopened.
Run ShellBoost.Cli.exe /? for help on this tool.
